Direct transfers are always free
No charge, ever

When your device connects directly to the recipient — peer-to-peer — files travel without touching our servers. No middleman, no usage fee beyond your base subscription.

Relay is a last resort — and it costs
Small usage fee applies

If every direct route fails, the file is relayed through our servers. This uses real bandwidth on our end, so relayed transfers carry a small usage fee on top of your base plan.

Why does direct sometimes fail?

Strict firewalls, double-NAT setups, or corporate network policies can block peer-to-peer connections entirely. SharetoAnyone doesn’t control your network configuration — relay fees reflect the real cost of routing around those restrictions, not a penalty we impose.

In short: your base subscription covers the app. Relay fees only apply when your network makes a direct connection impossible.

Is SharetoAnyone free to use?
Yes — completely free during the beta programme. All features are available at no cost. Paid plans will be introduced at launch, but beta users will receive early-adopter benefits.
Are there any file size limits?
No. Files transfer directly between devices (peer-to-peer) so the only constraint is your connection speed. Send a single file or hundreds of gigabytes — there is no cap and no compression.
What platforms are supported?
SharetoAnyone provides a native desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux. No browser plugin or Java runtime is required — just install and run.
How does the encryption work?
Files and messages are encrypted end-to-end on your device before they leave. The decryption key is derived from a shared secret exchanged directly with the recipient — our servers never see the plaintext data or the keys.
Does SharetoAnyone store my files on its servers?
Never. Data travels directly between you and your recipient. We operate a lightweight signalling layer to help devices find each other, but your file content never touches our infrastructure.
What happens if the recipient is offline?
Transfers require both parties to be connected at the same time. If a direct P2P path cannot be established (e.g. behind a strict firewall), an encrypted relay can bridge the connection temporarily — your data remains encrypted throughout.
Who can see my transfer history?
Only you. Transfer metadata is purged once a session closes. We retain the minimum information required to run the service — and nothing more.
Why do you create the registration password for me?
We generate a strong, unique password on your behalf because user-chosen passwords are often weak or reused — which puts your account at risk. Importantly, we never see or store your password in plain text. It is hashed using a one-way algorithm before it is saved, meaning even our own team cannot read it. We have no access to your credentials or your account profile. You are free to change your password at any time from your account settings.
